The children served by Outreach for Kids are in State custody and in foster care, in individual or group homes.
These "special needs" foster children are managed on a day to day basis by the Service Coordinators of Managed Treatment Services (MTS), which is a subdivision of South Carolina Department of Social Services (SCDSS).
As a state agency, MTS cannot directly ask the public for help for these children. Their hands are often tied regarding what they are able to do for the children, as they are constrained severely by the state budget.
OK was formed in 2006 by eight local "moms." We are all volunteers and have virtually no overhead. Virtually every dime we raise goes directly to help these children. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
